PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST

We have all the car care tips you could ever want so that you can get the most out of your car. Modern vehicles are technologically advanced machines. Computers are ever controlling more systems in vehicles making it harder for automobile owners to service their own vehicles. The good news is cars need less maintenance than ever before, however the maintenance that your vehicle requires is now more complex.

Weekly or at Every Gasoline Stop:
  1. Check the engine oil level


  2. Check the windshield washer fluid level


  3. Check all lights and signals for burned out bulbs


  4. Look at each tire for under inflation or side wall damage


  5. Check for wet spots that indicate leaks under the car or around the wheels


  6. Make sure windows, mirrors, and lights are clean and unobstructed
Monthly or Before a Long Trip:
  1. Check and adjust the air pressure in all tires, including the spare (Check while tires are cool)


  2. Check the coolant in the coolant recovery reservoir


  3. Check engine belts for wear and tension


  4. Check battery fluid level


  5. Check automatic transmission fluid level
Every Six Months:
  1. Check wheel lug bolts for tightness


  2. Change oil and oil filter (or every 3,000 miles)


  3. Replace windshield wiper blades


  4. Inspect exhaust system for cracks or leaks


  5. Check power steering and brake fluid levels


  6. Check air filter element


  7. Inspect battery terminals for corrosion


  8. Lubricate all hinges and door locks


  9. Have brake pads or shoes inspected for wear


  10. Inspect tires carefully for extent of wear and unusual wear patterns


  11. Rotate tires if indicated in owner's manual


  12. Have wheel alignment checked if tires are wearing unevenly
