Bloody Mary
Part IX

- "BLOODY MARY" - MY OWN TRUE GHOST STORY
October 20, 2005

When I was like twelve, I was going to sleep over at my friend's house. My friend had a baby sister, who was like three years old. My friend and I waited until the stroke of midnight then started doing the "Bloody Mary" thing, with candles burning in the mirror and saying her name like a hundred and eleven times. But then something really weird happened when this really ugly woman appeared in the mirror. We started screaming and stuff, and our screaming woke up my friend's little sister. My friend's sister began crying and came into the bathroom, carrying her teddy bear. But just as she entered, the woman in the mirror reached out and grabbed the little girl's teddy bear and pulled it into the mirror! I swear she was laughing, too! We all screamed again and ran to our beds to hide under the covers! When my friend's parents came home, we told them what had happened. Naturally they didn't believe us. But they couldn't explain their daughter's missing teddy bear being clearly visible in the bathroom mirror, whenever the light was out and a candle was lit!

- "BLOODY MARY"... IN THE 'HOOD
October 21, 2005

My name is Cleophus and I am writing from the home of the urban legend, the inner city. When people talk about urban legends, they should perhaps first talk to someone who lives in or has lived in the urban area, because we are the people this stuff happens to.

I first heard about "Bloody Mary" at Sister Ofelia Desdemona's storefront bible study. She has it on Sundays, from 9 to 11, when the process parlor is closed for business and the guy running numbers isn't around. Around 10, she sends the younger kids home so that she can sell short dog wine, 'cause in our town can't nobody sell nothing but 3.2 beer on Sunday, and that only after 2 PM in the afternoon. Anyway, that's how I came to know about "Bloody Mary."

Now, I'm here to tell you "Bloody Mary" wasn't no "red-faced Massachusetts ghost" who got hanged for being a witch by a bunch of Christians. That ain't what happened. Not even. The REAL "Bloody Mary" was a jazz artist from the 1930s, living in the projects of Chicago's south side.

"Bloody Mary" confronted her boyfriend for cheating on her and throwing her over for some unnamed taxi dancer cabaret hostess. Made angry by the confrontation, her boyfriend got drunk (probably on short dog wine) and broke into Mary's apartment, where he straight-razor slashed her in front of her bathroom mirror, while she was putting make-up stuff on to hold the cucumber slices she had ready for her eyes, and which the police found on a saucer by her bed.

The reason "Bloody Mary" comes back when her name is called is because she is still looking for revenge against the unnamed lady taxi dancer her boyfriend had cheated with. Which is why it is almost always a GIRL or GIRLS who see her in the bathroom mirror. The only-est time "Bloody Mary" makes an appearance is if the one calling her with a candle is a GIRL, 'cause "Mary" comes to check her out to see if she's the one she's searching for. I have tried calling her, both alone and with friends, and never saw anything. But some GIRLS at my school tried calling "Bloody Mary" and they saw her! One of them was even grabbed by the mirror's apparition. "Bloody Mary" reached out of the mirror and grabbed her by her hair, but she broke free before she could be dragged into the mirror and murdered! And she wasn't even the one "Bloody Mary" is searching for!

The reason for the darkened room is that ghosts who reside in the mirror-world can't see out (see we the living) unless the room is dark. And the candle is to attract their attention.

I am familiar with many more urban legends and will write true stories about them at a later time.

- Facing the Mirror
October 26, 2005

Okay, so one day me, my brother and my friend were playing games. Then all of a sudden I said "Hey, do you guys wanna try to play that "Bloody Mary" game?". My brother immediately said "yeah!" But my scared friend said "nooooo!" but me and my brother begged her to do it with us, she then said "fine". We all rush in the bathroom, and pull down all the shades, and shut off the lights. We then held hands and said "Bloody Mary". Before I came up with the idea I was fine, but now I was crapping my pants like everyone else in the room. Finally on the 13# time, everyone was SO scared. Right then and there, we saw a figure of a face with long stringy hair. You couldn't make out the figure but it look like there was blood dripping down the mirror. FREAKY! ~BuH-ByE!

- HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
October 29, 2005

*NOTE: We are glad the story of Bloody Mary is an Urban Legend, for with all the 'true stories' we've gotten about her, she'd come and shred us all up to bits with the things being said about her.
